Deborah Mackler Gordon

As Director of Construction Project Management for Episcopal Health Services, Inc. (EHS), Deborah Mackler Gordon oversees the planning, design, and construction of several construction projects for Episcopal Health Services. She has been with EHS, in her current role, for five years but has been involved in healthcare construction and planning throughout her career. She has worked as the architect, owner's representative, and contractor.

Deborah brings this knowledge of construction techniques, budgets, and an untold number of specific details related to building upgrades and new construction as a member of St. John’s ICARE Foundation Advisory Committee. The Foundation, established in 2021, benefits and supports the charitable and educational activities of EHS. In her new role as part of the Committee, she hopes to encourage both existing and new business partners to support the Foundation's initiatives.  And also, occasionally tackling the fundraising head on, saying, “Later this year I’ll be competing in my first marathon and hoping to turn that into a fundraising event—stay tuned for details!”

Working with Nancy Leghart, the Executive Director of ICARE, and Nancy Fox, Director of Grants Management, External Affairs, for EHS, Deborah helps to provide the details for many of the construction programs, including estimated construction and furniture/ equipment costs, timelines, project narratives, and plans.

With a degree in architecture with a focus in Healthcare Design and a background as an architect, Deborah’s various career paths enabled solid experience within many phases of construction and project management. In one of her previous experiences, she worked with HIP (now EmblemHealth), and the road to St. John's expansion in the Rockaways has re-connected her to the former Rockaway HIP site for the development of hospital outpatient services. “I’m excited to be part of the continuing growth of our healthcare network in the Rockaways, which will bring much needed services to our extended community—including the expansion of our Women's Center on Beach 105th Street, the new Ambulatory Pavilion which includes bringing a comprehensive cancer center to the Rockaways, the new Clinical Learning Center, and the new Labor & Delivery unit.”

A lifelong resident of Long Island, Deborah and her husband, Brian, live in Malverne.
