Jacqueline M. Marecheau, MD FACOG

Dr. Jacqueline Marecheau joined St. John’s Episcopal Hospital (EHS) as the Director of Quality and Patient Safety in Women’s Health in early 2020. She has nearly 20 years of experience as a faculty/voluntary attending. For the last two years, Dr. Marecheau has led the department concerning quality improvement, patient safety, policy, and procedure. Recently, she became a member of the Advisory Committee for the St. John’s ICARE Foundation.

The ICARE Foundation was established in 2021 to benefit and support the charitable and educational activities of EHS. When asked to join the newly founded Advisory Committee, Dr. Marecheau did not hesitate. “I really appreciate the direction this foundation is going and what it embodies through the ICARE acronym. Whatever I can do as a physician to help increase the awareness for St. John’s is my pleasure.”

Before joining St. John’s, Dr. Marecheau was aware of the general negative impressions surrounding the hospital, saying, “Unfortunately, St. John’s had a bad reputation for years, but now I think this could be a turning point to change the perception of this organization. We are here to help people and raise awareness, yes, but also to dispel the myths. I think the committee can do just that.” Seeing the hospital’s positive turnaround over the last 10 years, she adds, “It’s really something I’m proud to be a part of. I’m ecstatic about the future of St. John’s and this committee.”

Before her current position at St. John’s, Dr. Marecheau was a faculty staff attending at Long Island College Hospital (LICH), where she completed her residency training. During her time at LICH, she was Medical Student Clerkship Director. Afterward, she spent nine years as a faculty attending at NYU Langone-Brooklyn, where she chaired the quality assurance committee for the FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center) in Women’s Health.

Dr. Marecheau was raised in The Bronx. She received her BS in Biomedical Education from the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education. She obtained her medical degree from SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn. She is board certified in the field of obstetrics and gynecology.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Marecheau enjoys cooking, traveling, movies, and long walks. Of the many awards received throughout her career, notably the CREOG (Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology), for which she has received recognition twice; Dr. Marecheau is most proud of being a wife to her husband of 11 years and mother to her son, who is 9. She and her family live in Brooklyn.
